So how much does spray foam insulation cost?

Spray Foam Insulation cost is typically calculated by the board foot, which is measured like this: 20’wide x 20’long x 1″ thick.

To calculate the board footage of the space you want to spray, multiply the area you want to insulate by the depth in inches. The formulas looks like this: Square feet. x depth in inches = board feet. To calculate the price of your job, take the cost of the type of Spray Foam you choose:

  • Open-cell Spray Foam is generally 0,40 to 0,65 cents per board foot
  • Closed-cell Spray Foam is generally $ 0.95 – $1.20 per board foot

For example,

  • 2,500 sq ft, At 2″ thick of closed cell = $4,750. to $6,000
  • 2,500 sq ft, At 4″ thick of open cell = $4,000. to $6,500

Minimum Service Charge Per Job is $2.100 To $2.500. Depending on Your Job and Situation.

If you live in Manhattan • Brooklyn • Queens • Bronx • Staten Island or surroundings areas of New Jersey, Spray Foam Insulation NYC we can help you to fix your winter problems

I think we would all agree that we all deserve to live in a house that is warm and comfortable. Unfortunately many of us live in houses with rooms that are very warm while others are very cold, especially in old houses where the upstairs can be more than 10° warmer than the first floor.

Why?

Warm air is leaking out. All the gaps, cracks and voids combined are the equivalent of leaving a window open all day every day.The average house leaks enough air in one day to fill the Goodyear blimp. And that’s over 200,000 cubic feet of air that you paid to heat, gone.

How bad is it?

You can dramatically improve the comfort if your home if you understand where to air seal and insulate. Think of your home as a chimney that has doors, windows and a roof. During the winter as your heater pumps warm air into your house it rises as it does in a chimney. Unfortunately many houses, especially old houses, have lots of gaps and cracks, and framing voids that’ll allow that warm air to continually run up and out of the house. In extreme cases so much of the warm air runs out of the home that the heaters can’t keep up. The US Department of Energy’s average for natural infiltration (the amount of air leaking out of a home) rate Is 54%. That means more than half of the expensive heated air in your home leaks out every hour and is replaced with cold dry air. Older homes are even leakier, commonly at 80% infiltration.

What is the solution?

The solution is to block that warm, expensive, heated air from leaving the house. The best and the most cost effective way is to install spray foam insulation to fill the gaps, cracks and voids in the attic. It’s like putting a continues air sealing cap on the top of the house. Applying foam insulation will give you both insulating value and air sealing as opposed to installing fiberglass insulation which ads no air sealing. Spray Foam Insulation in the attic will reduce the infiltration and accomplish these three benefits:

 1. Comfort

Warm air is staying in the house creating a comfortable indoor environment without hot and cold spots.

2. Lower Heating Cost

spray foam insulation will lower the amount of heat required (because heated air is not leaking out of the house) to warm the house, reducing energy bills.

3. Cleaner Indoor AirSince the amount of air leaving the house is reduced so is the distribution of dust. https://www.sprayfoaminsulationnynj.com

Strategic Combination to Create Industry-Leading Manufacturer and Distributor of Performance Spray Foam Insulation

Icynene U.S. Holding Corp. (“Icynene”) and Lapolla Industries Inc. (“Lapolla”) (OTCQX: LPAD) today announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which Icynene will acquire all the outstanding shares of Lapolla.  The transaction is valued at approximately $160 million, including net debt.

Under the terms of the agreement, stockholders of Lapolla will receive $1.03 in cash for each share of Lapolla that they own.  The transaction was unanimously approved by Lapolla’s board of directors and, following Lapolla’s entry into the agreement, Lapolla stockholders holding approximately 78% of Lapolla’s issued and outstanding voting shares executed a written consent approving the merger agreement and the transaction.

The transaction will combine Icynene, a Mississauga, Ontario Canada-based manufacturer and distributor of high performance, one step spray foam polyurethane foam insulation (“SPF”) products, with Lapolla, a Houston-headquartered global supplier and maker of SPF products. Together, the combined company’s energy-conserving SPF insulation products will serve a wide range of new residential, commercial, remodeling, and specialty non-construction insulation project needs in North America and globally.

“Icynene is thrilled to partner with Doug Kramer, the President and CEO of Lapolla, and his team as Icynene and Lapolla combine businesses to create an innovative leader in high yield SPF manufacturing and distribution,” said Mark Sarvary, Chief Executive Officer of Icynene. “Consumers are increasingly turning to high quality Spray Foam that forms an effective air barrier to meet their energy saving insulation needs. Together, as one company, Lapolla and Icynene will have more resources to fully serve our respective customers and positions both companies for long-term, sustained growth.”

“During the past several months, Lapolla conducted an extensive review of strategic opportunities to enhance value for our stockholders and Lapolla is happy to have reached this agreement with Icynene, which delivers a significant premium to Lapolla’s stockholders,” said Mr. Kramer, who will remain with the company.

“This is an exciting time in the insulation industry and Lapolla couldn’t be more pleased to join with Icynene, a combination that brings together two leading SPF brands, and work together to bring downstream value to Lapolla’s and Icynene’s mutual associates, team members, customers and consumers,” said Mr. Kramer.  “Mark and I look forward to bringing our complimentary experience together to strengthen our combined business”.

The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, including receipt of regulatory approvals.

Houlihan Lokey served as the exclusive financial advisor to Lapolla in connection with the transaction.

  • The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates (for all insulation) that homeowners who air seal and insulate their homes can save up to 20% of heating and cooling costs (or up to 10% total energy costs). (Source: Energy Star)
  • SPF resists heat transfer better than many other insulation materials, with R-values typically in the range of 3.5 – 6.5 per one inch of thickness. R-value is a term used to rate an insulation’s ability to resist conductive heat transfer. The higher the R-value, the more effective the insulation’s ability is to reduce conductive heat flow.
  • Because SPF insulation minimizes air infiltration, it assists in preventing moisture vapor from entering and escaping the home, which in turn reduces the load on heating and cooling systems.

*Savings vary. Find out why in the seller’s fact sheet on R-values. Higher R-values mean greater insulating power.

Reduce heating and air conditioning size

  • HVAC sizing can be reduced as much as 35% without the loss of efficiency and comfort. (Source: Canadian Urethane Foam Contractors Association)

Reduce drafts, noise and increase comfort

  • SPF is an effective air barrier.
  • SPF is commonly used to prevent drafts from windows, doors, attics and floor boards creating a more comfortable indoor environment.
  • SPF helps minimize air-borne sound transmission.

Impede entry of insects and pests

  • Sealing gaps with SPF from the outside provides a barrier against insects and other pests.

Minimize air infiltration that can generate condensation and result in mold growth

  • Moisture and humidity inside the home can lead to mold growth. Gaps and cracks in the building structure and condensation on windows can keep the humidity high and support mold and mildew growth. Left unchecked, mold and mildew can cause wood to rot. Air sealing the gaps between the attic and living space can help manage moisture and humidity issues.

Seal small cracks to insulate large areas, such as walls and roofs

  • Because SPF is spray-applied on site, it can more easily insulate and seal the small cracks common in homes. The application also makes expansive surfaces – like walls, attics and roofs – easy to cover in a relatively short amount of time.
  • Depending on the application, different types of SPF may be used. (See “Types of SPF insulation and how it’s applied“)

Resist settling due to its general stability

  • Typically not subjected to structural deterioration/decomposition and resists settling.

Qualify for utility rebates, tax credits and green certification

  • The energy savings obtained by air sealing homes is significant enough that the purchase and use of SPF products may qualify for tax credits under the new American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act allows for a tax credit of 30% on the purchase of energy efficient products, up to a maximum of $1,500 per year in 2010. Check with the manufacturer for confirmation that the specific SPF product qualifies for the tax credit and for further information and instructions on filing for the credit.
  • Many local utility companies offer rebates for energy efficiency upgrades. Check with your utility provider for eligibility.
  • To learn more about federal tax credits for energy efficiency, you can visit the ENERGY STAR web site on Federal Tax Credits for Consumer Energy Efficiency.
  • For new construction or major remodel projects, the use of SPF may help earn energy-efficiency credits under residential green certification programs. A few sources you can visit include:

Why Spray Foam Insulation NYC can help address condensation issues

Why spray foam insulation nyc can help address condensation issues: Did you know that it’s not just homeowners who are fans of spray foam insulation NYC? Recently, Love It or List It Vancouver has taking advantage of the performance advantages that Spray Foam insulation NYC offers for some of their projects, for a variety of reasons.

In an episode that aired on October 31, 2016, a home renovation was taking place that involved converting a hot tub and laundry area to a number of different types of living spaces. It quickly turned into a nightmare for the owners, however. Initially, they had expected to remove the hot tub and knock out a few walls in order to complete the renovation, but once the contractors began removing the drywall and tiling, it became evident that this was going to be an entirely different project. The room which housed the hot tub had not been properly ventilated, resulting in a buildup of moisture-laden air which had led to substantial degradation of key structural elements.

The long and the short of it: the room’s structure was essentially rotted through, to the point where it was structurally unsound.

The look of horror on this poor couple’s face, when they found out what those walls had been hiding since they had purchased the house years ago, was pure shock. Is it possible you live in a similar situation, and don’t even know it?

Love It or List It Vancouver approached Spray Foam company Four Seasons, a licensed Icynene contractor, to install Icynene Spray Foam insulation in the newly-rebuilt and converted mudroom, office, and laundry area. This would help to address the problem of moisture build up in these spaces as well as add value to the home.

Dealing With Moisture In Your Home

When co-host Jillian Harris and her contractors put sought to address the condensation problem properly, they selected an option that everyone should consider, when given the opportunity. Icynene Spray Foam insulation is an ideal insulation for areas of your home that encounter a higher moisture level for many reasons.

First of all, using Spray Foam insulation such as Icynene, to seal the room of any small cracks or holes, can aid in controlling and managing moisture movement. The Energy and Environmental Building Association has proven that a single hole as small as one square inch in your home’s wall or ceiling can let in as much as 30 quarts of water, via the air movement through that one spot. Imagine how much moisture-laden air was travelling into the building’s structure, through the tiny gaps and holes that were likely present in that hot tub room!

Additionally, Icynene insulation’s open cell foam allows for any water to drain through, and therefore it is able to dry quicker. It also allows for homeowners to easily and quickly identify any water leaks and address them as soon as possible. This is unlike traditional insulation materials, which can often become damp or waterlogged with flooding or excessive moisture build-up, as was likely the case of the show’s featured home..

Choosing The Right Contractor

As mentioned earlier, the Love It or List It team decided to go with Four Seasons Insulation, a licensed Icynene spray foam insulation contractor. Did you know that only contractors who have gone through a comprehensive training and certification program are allowed to purchase and install Icynene products? Not all home insulation companies are created equal, and if you’re unsure of a contractor’s certifications, chances are, you may not be working with someone as exhaustively trained. It pays to check and double-check.

What does it mean for Icynene’s contractors to be licensed? It means having the assurance that your contractor is using up-to-date equipment and materials, and is fully trained on the proper installation of sprayed foam. In order to maintain worker safety, as well as preventing off-ratio applications, Icynene installation contractors use the most modern Spray Foam technology and equipment.

Having a licensed Icynene contractor also means that safety and proper application are both top priorities. Icynene installers use specially calibrated machines which are designed to apply the product exactly as specified, in the correct ratio, to reduce the risk of Spray Foam insulation problems from occurring.

An Investment In Your Home

When chosing to insulate the rebuilt and redesigned area of their Vancouver home, the homeowner knew it was an investment that was going to pay off, in terms of resale value. Not only will these parts of their home be more comfortable, thanks to a decrease in moisture buildup, but that office space and bedroom will be quieter, thanks to a reduction in airborne sound transmission, something which Icynene is also able to help with.

Overall, the renovations these homeowners paid for raised the resale value of their home by $300,000, and this was only with a single area of their home with Icynene installed.

Find a licensed Icynene spray foam insulation contractor in your area, to discover more reasons to choose Icynene.
